Welcome to the 5th issue of Stack Sats. Bitcoin’s Lightning Network surpassed a major milestone this week by briefly topping 5,000 BTC of public capacity.
While public capacity is not a perfect metric, and it doesn’t capture improvements in Lightning payment velocity, reliability, or app usage, it is directionally correct as a lagging metric for Lightning ecosystem activity.
Lightning Network Metrics
Public Capacity: 4,965 BTC (+44 BTC)
Channels: 86,427 (+91)
Nodes: 17,854 (+23)
